How To Take Care Of Your Flag

We understand that buying a flag comes with questions on how to best look after it and extent its longevity. These are our most important tips to keep your flag in the best shape and allow you to fly it for longer. If you are considering buying a flag but hesitant due to being unsure how to care for it properly, these few guidelines should answer all of your questions.
-
Firstly, it is not recommend to fly flags in strong winds. Any time conditions are over 40km per hour, your flag should be taken down and brought inside, as the harsh winds will wear down the fibres in the flag and reduce the lifespan.
-
Secondly, it is recommend to take down your flag each evening, and to hoist it up again in the morning. If a flag has been out in the rain, once taken down and in a wet condition the flag should be spread out to dry thoroughly before rolling up. If not required for immediate use, don't fold the flag as this only causes creases, and always remember to roll up your flag and store in a dry place when not in use.
-
Our next tip is to remember the old saying ''A stitch in time saves nine''. In other words, if you sort out a problem immediately it may save a lot of extra work later. When it comes to flag, if you are ordering a new flag, you can send us the old flag for us to repair, and then it can be used in place of the new one in rougher weather.
-
Another important tip is to ensure your flag can fly freely without catching on anything as this will cause the flag to fray faster. An open space without tree branches or close buildings will allow your flag to fly without getting caught, and will show off its beauty.
-
If washing your flag, ensure to not wash it with harsh detergents as they take out the colours. Instead we recommended that you soak the flag in warm water with liquid laundry detergent and then put out to dry after a good soaking. They can be dry cleaned, but ensure they are in good order before doing so.
-
Please note, the bunting dyes used in these flags are the best obtainable; they are UV stable, however inevitably will fade over time. Ensure to inspect your flagpole and halyards regularly to make sure that there is no wear to either. It is also important to note that consistently flying flags in unsuitable weather conditions may result in the wearing life being limited to a few weeks.

With reasonable care the flag will last a long time. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to call us on 02 9925 0722, to discuss any remaining concerns.
